Meet Kathy Dahm

What is your title?

Client Service Associate.

What keeps you motivated in your work?

A sense of purpose, maintaining positive relationships, and a feeling that what I do is important.

Over your time at Badgley Phelps, how has your approach to assisting clients evolved?

My approach to assisting clients has evolved significantly over time, driven by their evolving needs and expectations. By embracing new technologies, I'm able to more readily access information—like direct connections with our clients' CPAs and attorneys, resulting in quicker turnaround times for our clients!

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?

Spending time outside, going on walks on a nice day, listening to music, and ‘binging’ on docuseries or podcasts! I also love finding time to spend with my ‘adult’ children and relaxing with my fur (cat) babies.

Cybersecurity threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated. What tips do you have for clients who suspect something unusual with their accounts?

It’s important to act promptly and take appropriate steps to minimize any potential risk. Reach out to us, if you are feeling unsure—if it feels off or unusual, it usually is!

With over 20 years at Badgley Phelps, how has the Client Services team grown and adapted?

I’ve seen adaptation in efficiency and responsiveness through advances in our technology. Our team’s open communication and willingness to share with each other what we learn daily is what helps us continue to evolve and grow in a role that is ever-changing!

What’s one behind-the-scenes task you do that often goes unnoticed but makes a big impact?

Given my tenure here at Badgley, I have been told that I am an important resource of knowledgeable information that is helpful to my teammates. Perhaps this has a big impact.

We’ve heard you’re a Disney fan! Which character do you most identify with, and why?

Mary Poppins, I suppose! I’m caring, playful with a bit of sternness, and I hold a strong sense of duty!

Client services requires strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities. How do you stay organized and manage your workflow?

I prioritize tasks and create clear communication channels with my team. I am a ‘nut’ with attention to detail.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Seattle, and what makes it a standout for you?

Hanok, in Madison Park. Their Dolsot Bibimbap, served in a hot stone bowl, is something to scream for!

What advice would you give to someone interested in a career in client services?

Most importantly, develop the ability to explain information in a clear and empathetic way. Whether you are guiding a client through a financial transaction, paperwork, or addressing a concern, strong verbal and written communication skills make a big difference. Plan to dedicate yourself to ‘attention to detail.’ Know that what we do has a lasting impact on the client experience, from start to finish and beyond.
