He’s the calm problem-solver who keeps our technology reliable and secure—coordinating with teams across the firm, explaining what matters in plain language, and minding the details that help colleagues serve clients with confidence.

Outside the office, Drew enjoys the pace of the Pacific Northwest—time on the trail, a good meal with friends, and quiet evenings with family.

Meet Drew Meyercord

What is your title at Badgley Phelps?
IT Manager

What does a typical day look like for you as an IT Manager?

One thing I enjoy is that no two days are the same. I might help troubleshoot tech issues, review system alerts, coordinate an IT project, or look for ways we can improve our IT operations. I appreciate how a mix of hands-on problem solving and longer-term planning keeps the work interesting and allows me to support the firm in different ways.

Discuss a complex tech issue you’ve recently solved and how did you approach it?

Install a set of applications and security policies on Badgley laptops before anyone uses them. When some new laptops started failing the setup, it wasn’t clear why. I divided the setup into stages, then read through the logs for the failing step. I didn’t find any errors, but when compared with logs from a successful setup, I found that one application was being marked as installed too early. The fix was straightforward, but finding the problem took patience and diligence.

What do you like to do when you're not at the office?

I like walks through PNW trails or sitting by a warm fire on a cold night. I’m also a foodie, and one of my favorite things is getting together with friends for a delicious meal.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

I’m proud of earning my degree in networking and cybersecurity while volunteering with the WGU Cyber Club to help future cybersecurity professionals build their own IT and security skills through workshops, hands-on labs, and cyber competitions. Seeing them develop confidence, solve complex problems, and step into the field has been incredibly rewarding.

How do you stay up to date with evolving cybersecurity trends and technology developments?

Besides keeping up with news reports and security announcements, attending and volunteering at technology and security conferences throughout the year provides a great way to stay current. I can learn about new threats and defenses, see how others are solving similar problems, and connect with people from all different areas of security and IT. It’s a mix of learning, community, and staying curious, which keeps things fresh.

What is your go to favorite movie and why?

Definitely “The Princess Bride!” It’s a true classic with adventure, humor, and romance. The cast is fantastic, and the dialogue is endlessly quotable. I could watch it a hundred times and it wouldn’t get old.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stay curious and never stop striving to improve. Real growth usually happens outside your comfort zone, and the more you’re willing to explore, experiment, and challenge yourself, the more opportunities you’ll find.

How do you see AI shaping the future of technology in the wealth management industry?

Across most industries, AI is already helping with tasks like summarizing information and organizing routine work. Over the next few years, we’ll likely see tools that can assist with multi-step workflows, like gathering documents, checking data for consistency, or preparing a first-pass summary for an advisor to review. These are general industry trends, not specific plans at Badgley, and these tools aren’t a substitute for the experience or relationships that clients rely on. With the right safeguards, AI can reduce busywork and give teams better insights and more time to focus on serving clients.

What’s your favorite piece of outdated tech that you secretly miss?

Video cassettes, believe it or not. When I was a kid, movie nights meant walking down the aisles of VHS tapes looking for just the right one. You might find the last copy of the newest Hollywood blockbuster or something you’d never heard of with cool cover art or a recommendation from an employee. Renting a movie felt like an event and choices had to be intentional, which made it special.

Final Thoughts

Drew’s approach—plan thoughtfully, communicate clearly, and stay steady when things get busy—reflects the service philosophy our clients rely on. We’re grateful for the diligence he brings to every interaction and for the way he helps our team deliver a seamless, secure experience.

Thank you, Drew, for the professionalism and care you bring to Badgley Phelps.
