Meet Eileen Olson

What is your title at Badgley Phelps?
Client Service Associate

When you look back on your work week, what moments feel the most rewarding?
Providing guidance when clients need help understanding their account. I also enjoy building relationships and supporting my colleagues.

Over your time at Badgley Phelps, how has your approach to assisting clients evolved?
The longer I’m here, the better connection I have with our clients. Not only do I enjoy working with them, but I am better able to anticipate their needs and know their preferences..

What is your favorite book and why?
Any book about travel—it’s my passion.

What skills or mindsets from training for triathlons have been most valuable in your professional life?
Training for a triathlon, especially an Ironman, requires dedication, perseverance, determination, and resilience. I believe all these skills carry over to both my personal and professional life.

Cybersecurity threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated. What tips do you have for clients who suspect something unusual with their accounts?
Regularly review your financial and credit card statements. If you notice any unusual activity, make sure to contact the company and perhaps obtain extra security on the account.

Client services requires strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities. How do you stay organized and manage your workflow?
When I first arrive at work, I like to review my tasks. It helps me anticipate and plan for anything that comes along that day. I also like to keep lists of what I need to do, then cross things off when they are done. Coffee helps a lot!

What advice would you give to someone interested in a career in client services?
You genuinely have to enjoy working with clients, solving problems, have the ability to multitask, and have an abundance of patience.

You’ve been in the industry for over twenty years. How have you seen the financial industry landscape shift over time from a client service perspective?
I believe the media has played a big role, as people can access information faster, which can have both good and bad effects for our clients. Technology has also changed how we go about our work, especially how we contact and support clients.

If you could take your ultimate vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and what about it excites you most?
I’ve traveled to over 25 countries, but one that has always been on my bucket list is Greece. The water is pristine, the food is delicious, and I’ve heard the people are very friendly. I am already planning a trip to swim there in the future..
